Spelling, Grammar & Punctuation (formerly Jolly Grammar) is a six-level programme that gives young children the skills they need to spell and punctuate more accurately, use a wider vocabulary and have a clearer understanding of how language works. The Pupil Book for each level provides fun and engaging activities for the children to do as part of the lesson. The content covered introduces complex grammatical concepts in an engaging and child-friendly way and systematically reinforces the learning so that no one is left behind. It teaches new spelling patterns, supports a greater understanding of sentence structure, expands vocabulary and comprehension and cultivates dictionary and thesaurus skills. As part of the new Jolly Literacy brand, all the Pupil Books have new covers and ISBNs. Levels 2-6 remain the same in terms of content, but the new edition of Pupil Book 1 has a fresh, modern design with completely new artwork. It also has new lessons on ; the /air/ spellings; saying /ear/; suffixes; comparatives and superlatives; and sentence work (sequencing/using the joining word ‘and’). New editions of the other levels will be made available alongside Comprehension & Creative Writing, Levels 2-6. Both programmes are designed to work seamlessly together, helping children to become confident readers and creative writers.
